Nevada emerging as a leader in large-scale solar

Posted 2 years ago in the Solar Policy category by Nate Lew
Nevada is reportedly gaining a reputation as one of the most solar-friendly states in the country.

A report in the Las Vegas Sun this week focuses on the recent accomplishments made by state lawmakers in the latest legislative session, which was especially productive on solar issues when compared to some other states like Florida and Texas.

The newspaper goes on to say that many of the legislative achievements in Nevada will boost the industry for large scale solar projects, several of which are already being constructed in the state.

Among the items reportedly passed by lawmakers were an increase in the amount of clean energy Nevada must generate by 2025, plus property tax relief for renewable energy plants, the creation of a renewable energy commission and an expanded incentive program for solar roof investments.

The latest example of Nevada's solar energy growth came just this week, when state media outlets reported on plans by NV Energy to buy energy from a 20 megawatt array currently being constructed near Searchlight.
