The project was completed as part of SEI's "Renew The Nation" campaign that hopes to decrease the nation's reliance on fossil fuels while adding to the workforce through the spearheading of thermal and photovoltaic technology installation projects.
The completion of the school project, which included the installation of 3,300 solar panels on ten different buildings, will reduce the schools' carbon dioxide emissions by 1,250 tons annually. A press release announcing the completion of the project also noted that the project came at no out-of-pocket expense to the school district.
"The completion of this municipal installation is additional evidence that [SEI's] cost effective energy solutions can create new jobs, decrease energy costs and reduce strain on the grid through viable clean energy," said David Fann, SEI's CEO.
He added that the company planned on looking for other school and municipal project development opportunities to try and create similar projects across the country that decrease energy use while improving the environment.
"We are confident that Solar Energy Initiatives is well positioned for significant growth in 2010 and beyond," he said.
