The online education and training course, titled PV Design and Installation Training, will initially be developed for U.S. markets before it is eventually translated and localized for various markets in India, China, Latin America, and other locales around the world.
Those who take the online course will learn how to design and install photovoltaic panels in order to pursue careers in the solar energy field. John Schaeffer, the chairman and founder of the SLI, said the program had been accredited by the Institute for Sustainable Power and would be offered by the North American Board of Certified Energy Professionals.
"For over 15 years, the Solar Living Institute has been offering our PV Design and Installation training at our 12-acre sustainability center in Northern California. We are happy to take another stride in our journey toward sustainability not only by going 'paperless' but also by encouraging people to learn more and travel less, saving fossil fuels, time and money," he added.
The SLI was founded in 1998 by Schaeffer as an institute to promote "sustainable living through education and demonstration to diverse audiences at its Solar Living Center" on their 12-acre campus.
