Rivermoor Energy, which will be part of a consortium teaming up to develop, design and build the project, announced on Thursday that the project would be built on the rooftop of the Boston Water and Sewer Commission headquarters and connect to the NSTAR power grid.
The project, which will cost approximately $1.075 million and take three months to construct, will consist primarily of a 240-kilowatt photovoltaic solar energy system. Once completed, the system will be capable of producing 268,000 kilowatt hours of solar energy every year.
"It has been such a pleasure working with all of the collaborative partners on this project and we are so excited to see another clean, renewable energy project plugging into the NSTAR system," said Tom May, CEO of NSTAR, "The BWSC solar installation is the perfect example of how renewable energy projects can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and benefit the local economy at the same time."
Other companies involved in the consortium that developed and designed the project are listed as Fischbach & Moore Electrical Group and Zapotec Energy, Inc.
