BioStorage - which provides long- and -short-term biometrics storage, sample management, and cold chain logistics - will have its German biorepository use an estimated 360,000 kilowatt hours of renewable energy annually. By doing so, the green energy use will cut an estimated 189 tons of carbon dioxide from the environment in the first year alone.
"We are pleased to have all of our global facilities operating with 100 percent renewable energy," said Dr. F. John Mills, chairman and CEO at BioStorage Technologies. "This initiative demonstrates our commitment to conserving energy and improving the health of the environment by decreasing carbon dioxide emissions."
Dr. Wolfgang Hoffer, the managing director of BioStorage's European operations, added that the usage of completely renewable energy was only one part of the company's green initiatives they were getting underway.
BioStorage has also developed an "environmentally conscious management" of waste disposal, logistics, and water consumption/paper use designed to be greener than it had been previously.
