The 33 Powergate Plus solar photovoltaic inverters will be provided to Energy 21, a European private power utilities company, to deliver approximately 30.5 megawatts of solar power through the power plants. Satcon will also provide 13 one-megawatt CE inverters, four 250-kilowatt inverters, and more than 600 smart subcombiners as part of the agreement.
The plant constructions will qualify under a feed-in tariff sponsored by the Czech Republic that intends to spur the creation of 500 megawatts of grid connected photovoltaic power plants by the end of 2011.
"The utility scale solar power market in the Czech Republic is poised for significant growth in 2010 as demonstrated by these projects," said Daniel Kunz, Energy 21's CEO. "Our experience working with [Satcon] on some of the largest installations across the Czech Republic and Slovakia over the past two years gives us tremendous confidence that these new solar plants will deliver the highest level of reliability and performance, and provide the strongest value to our shareholders."
Energy 21 will own and maintain the power plants, which should be finished with construction during the first half of 2010. They will provide power to both the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
