Crownbutte joins Grassland Renewable Energy's Wind Spirit Project

Posted 1 year ago in the Green Energy category by Nate Lew
A North Dakota-based wind development company has announced it will be participating in a large-scale renewable energy wind project being put into effect by Grasslands Renewable Energy.

The Wind Spirit Project will provide integrated energy transmission, storage, and marketing solutions while collecting up to 3,000 megawatts of renewable energy via wind and other sources across Montana and the Northern Great Plains. The energy will be collected using 230KV AC transmission lines before it is transported to large markets using high voltage AC and DC transmission lines.

Of the energy collected, 1,000 megawatts will be delivered to consumers which will provide enough energy to meet the electrical needs of 600,000 homes.

Crownbutte's expertise will be utilized to bring in its expertise regarding the development, owning, and operation of wind parks in prime wind resource locations that have access to existing and planned transmission systems.

"Crownbutte welcomes the opportunity to be a part of the Wind Spirit Project. This unique plan to access the western energy markets adds considerable value to Crownbutte's project development pipeline," said the company's executive vice president Dr. Terry Pilling.

Greenlands Renewable Energy currently plans on developing the Wind Spirit project in time for a target completion and full build out date of 2017.
