Suzlon Wind Energy to take on many new projects in 2010

Suzlon Wind Energy has announced that it is planning on taking on a number of projects in 2010 that will install more than 350 new wind turbines and generate enough green energy to power 220,000 homes.

The renewable energy company, which is a North American subsidiary of Suzlon Energy Limited, recently announced it would be installing nine new projects in the year in seven different states.

The projects will involve the installation of 351 new wind turbines, with the majority of them being the company's S88-2.1 MW wind turbines. The project will create create 728 megawatts of renewable wind energy throughout the country.

"We look forward to completing the many projects for Duke Energy, Iberdrola Renewables and others, while simultaneously funneling money back into rural economies and creating green jobs at each wind farm," said Andris Cukurs, CEO of Suzlon Wind Energy.

Suzlon currently has more than 1,750 megawatts of wind turbine capacity installed throughout the country, making it the third-largest wind turbine group on earth with a 12.3 percent global market share.
