Utilizing more than 1,000 photovoltaic solar modules created by Canadian Solar, the two 119 kilowatt solar energy electric systems were installed at Aircraft Spruce's distribution warehouses in Corona, California and Peachtree.
At their peak, the systems will be capable of generating 332,264 kilowatt hours annually, enough to offset the aircraft company's electric costs by 65 percent while preventing the release of more than 5,634 tons of carbon dioxide annually as well.
"Aircraft Spruce's investment in solar energy to power their distribution warehouses is a leading example of a company conducting business in an environmentally conscious manner," said Mike Miskovsky, U.S. general manager of Canadian Solar, Inc. "The Aircraft Spruce solar electric installations will yield great financial savings for the company and will greatly offset its power requirements with use of the world's most abundant, free source of power, the sun.
Jim Irwin, the president of Aircraft Spruce, added he was excited to be utilizing renewable energy, both as a means for the company to not only save money but also become more environmentally responsible.
