Oregon town launches solar energy savings initiative

Posted 2 years ago in the Solar Energy category by Danny Vo
In an attempt to spread awareness and increase the ability of those living in an Oregon town to turn to solar energy as a possible green energy alternative to traditional power, an Oregon company has launched a program that allows residents to take advantage of savings opportunities when installing a solar system.

The low-cost initiative residential solar program in Pendleton, Oregon, called Solarize Pendleton, is a community scale project based on a larger plan that was previously utilized in the nearby city of Portland. Using various state and federal tax incentives, it intends to provide local businesses and residents with discounted solar energy systems.

In some cases, the savings offered through the program to the city's 17,500 residents can chop the costs of certain complete solar energy systems by as much as 80 percent.

Once installed, homeowners and businesses will also stand to see additional savings in the form of lower utility costs, which can drop by nearly one-third once a renewable solar energy system is installed.

Solarize Pendleton will also benefit from a partnership with LiveLight Energy, a family-owned solar construction company based in Bearverton, to offer free solar sight assessments and low installation prices for those looking to take part in the program.
