More green jobs will soon be in California with help from a recently announced facility by SunPower Corp.

SunPower, which is based in Silicon Valley, announced in a press conference this week with California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger that it will open a solar panel manufacturing plant in Milpitas. The facility is expected to be open by the end of this year.

The company specializes in high-efficiency solar cells and photovoltaic panels, and has been in business for 25 years. With its latest facility, 100 new jobs will be created this year, helping the company produce an additional 75 megawatts of panels each year.

One of the company's recent products is the T5 Solar Roof Tile, which is said to be already gaining attention from large institutional and corporate customers.

SunPower is not only enabling homes and businesses to conserve energy and save money by going solar, they are also creating jobs at a time when they are needed most," said Governor Schwarzenegger.

The Department of Energy's Solar Energy Technologies Program was also reported to be helpful in making the current project possible.
