According to DuPont, sales from its photovoltaic division are expected to rise 50 percent in 2010 based on the strong demand from parts of the world including North America, Europe and Asia.
In 2009, photovoltaic revenues were more than $550 million, a figure that marked a 25 percent increase over 2008 figures. The company also pointed out that its own projected revenue growth outpaces that of the broader photovoltaic industry.
"We expect our growth momentum to continue because materials innovations are essential to delivering improved efficiency, longer lifetimes, and lower overall system costs to consumers," said Dave Miller, president of DuPont Electronics and Communications.
The company expects its photovoltaic revenues to continue growing in the coming years, hitting $1 billion in 2011 and rising to more than $2 billion by 2014. DuPont also noted that it has been supplying materials to the photovoltaic industry for more than 25 years.
