The company reported this week that it is qualifying a number of manufacturing companies to help build its product line in North America, including high concentration photovoltaic panels and rooftop tracker systems.
By doing so, the company expects to contribute to the green economy while also holding down delivery times and costs for North American customers.
"With so many industries declining recently, solar power represents a bright spot with potential for significant growth for many years to come. OPEL Solar has been responsive to our customers and the solar market by being agile and ready for local content requirements that benefit economies," said Francisco Middleton, chief operator officer of OPEL Solar.
Developments such as this are particularly welcome, with many companies opting to build their products overseas in lower-wage countries despite the ongoing emphasis on green jobs coming from the federal government.
