Denver rooftop used for photovoltaic testing

Posted 2 years ago in the Solar Energy category by Nate Lew
A utility-scale project in the Denver area is helping researchers continue to build their knowledge of large photovoltaic rooftop arrays.

In a recent announcement, Uni-Solar announced that it is participating in testing activities at the rooftop array, which is maintained by ProLogis Renewable Energy. Uni-Solar is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Energy Conversion Devices.

Uni-Film, which is based in Michigan, specializes in flexible, thin-film photovoltaic technologies. The research array in question features 99 solar energy modules provided by eight different manufacturers. This allows various technologies to be tested side by side.

"This test site will provide a wealth of information about PV on rooftops and gives UNI-SOLAR the opportunity to showcase our unique, lightweight product. We believe these installations will provide clean, inexpensive energy to the power grid and also increase awareness of the benefits of solar energy as a top renewable energy source in North America and across the globe for generations to come," said Mark Morelli, CEO of Uni-Solar.

For its part, ProLogis specializes in providing rooftop space for distributed solar energy projects, with more than 450 million square feet of rooftop space around the world currently available for such arrays.
