Panasonic took control of 50.2 percent of former rival Sanyo at the end of last year with an eye on becoming a player in the solar panel market.
In an announcement this week, Panasonic reported that it will launch its HIT 215 Series household solar power generation systems on July 1. The products will incorporate Sanyo's solar modules with Panasonic's energy management and electrical technology.
The company reports that by entering into the partnership with Sanyo and launching the new product, it is aiming to account for at least 35 percent of Japan's solar market by 2012.
This won't be Panasonic's only foray into the world of clean energy. The company reports that it is working on other devices that create and store and save energy with an eye on making this one of its flagship business pursuits.
