According to Envision Solar International, its LifeVillage offers 3,500 square feet of habitable area with up to 50 kilowatts of solar energy generating potential. The company notes that the LifeVillage can serve as a clinic, schoolhouse, residence or other similar options.
The company also adds that the product may be especially helpful in developing nations or those which have been hit by natural disasters.
"The LifeVillage is comprised of very simple, moderately sized buildings that can do very big jobs - like provide purified water, refrigeration, medical facilities and transmission capabilities for cell phones, internet, radio and television - in a time when recovering communities need help the most," said Robert Noble, CEO of Envision Solar.
The steel-framed structures use efficient photovoltaic panels and advanced battery systems and can also provide electricity to other nearby buildings if needed. Further adding to their usefulness, the company adds that workers can put them up in just a few days.
