SMTC and Enecsys bring micro solar inverters to Ontario

SMTC Corporation and Enecsys Limited recently announced a partnership between the two companies to produce Enecsys micro inverters at SMTC's Markham facility in York Region, Ontario, to be made available for the Canadian market.

"This innovative partnership generates new, quality jobs and benefits our local economy while at the same time contributing to environmental sustainability," said Bill Fisch, chairman and CEO of the York Region. "It builds on the reputation of the Regional Municipality of York as a business innovation growth center for both advanced manufacturing and clean tech."

The partnership allows for Enecsys micro inverters to meet the Ontario Power Authority Feed-in Tariff domestic content requirement for renewable energy projects and to bring photovoltaic power to the power grid in Ontario.

Enecsys micro inverters have the potential to increase a system's total energy output from 5 to 20 percent depending on site-specific situations.

Recent additions to the clean energy industry in Ontario have made the province leader in clean, modern and reliable electricity. Currently, the province is home to the 10 largest solar farms throughout Canada.
